A Shackle Release Code is used to let someone other than the lockbox owner remove the lockbox from a property by releasing its shackle. The owner does not need this code, they can remove the shackle directly by selecting “Release Shackle” on the SentriKey app’s home screen.
SentriKey® Instructions for Users
1. Launch the SentriKey® Real Estate App
2. In the app, Tap “ Release Shackle”
3. Select “Get Shackle Release Code”
4. Search for the desired lockbox. You may enter the lockbox serial number or the address of the property your lockbox is assigned to.
5. Select the desired lockbox.
6. Select a Date for the Code
7. Tap “Get Shackle Release Code”
8. In the app, enter your PIN and tap OK, or use Touch ID / Face ID.
9. Your shackle release code will appear along with instructions on how to use the code. Select “How to Use this Code” to access the dropdown menu. If you'd like to share the code, tap the share icon in the top right corner.
10. To enter the shackle release code start by pressing the “ENT” button on the lockbox, then enter the code shown above
11. Once complete, Press the “ENT” button on the lockbox
12. The Shackle will be released.

Emergency Shackle Release Code for RMLS Staff
Emergency Shackle Release Code for RMLS Staff
Used when RMLS staff need to issue a code that allows a non-owner to remove a lockbox from a property.
Lockbox owners do not need this code, they can release the shackle directly in the SentriKey app by selecting “Release Shackle” on the home screen.
Common Reasons for Issuing the Code:
- Subscriber is no longer active with RMLS and forgot they still had a lockbox on a property. Since they are terminated in SentriLock, staff can issue a code after validating ownership by asking the Security Question in CRM.
- Lockbox owner wants the property owner or co-listing agent to remove the lockbox on their behalf, and provides authorization for staff to issue the code.
Go to Sentrilock.com and login under the same Association the lockbox owner belongs to. Very important or you will not be given a code.
Select Permission to match subscribers region
Do not rely on the code that is in the Carrier sheet, as it can change!
- Click on the Lockboxes tab on the left column.
- Search field: Serial number.
- Search value: Enter lockbox serial number here.
- Click Search.
- Select the three ellipses ... on the far right.
- Click on Emergency Shackle Code.
- You will now see the instructions on how to use the code as well as the code itself.
